Roses of Early June

It's the time I'm waiting for all winter - the time when all the roses open their blooms and fill my garden and house with their pretiness.

 

These photos were taken in the beginning of June, but now they are still blooming profusely with new ones coming along.

 

So one day of early June I cut one stem from about each rose bush that was blooming at the time. Some were not, so these are just a part of my now 28 rose bushes.

 

I brought them all inside and I just had to have a photo shoot in my small and amateurish soft box :)

 

Here is the line-up:

Yellow - Graham Thomas and The Pilgrim

Lower pink - English Garden and Princess Alexandra of Kent

Middle pinks- Evelyn and Brother Cadfael

Top pinks - Garten Traume and Gentle Hermione

Dark red - Munstead Wood and Astrid Gräfin von Hardenberg

 

In this photo there is also the purple rose which might be Novalis by Kordes, but as I've stollen it (psst, don't tell anyone!), I'm not sure of its name.

 

There's also, at the very right end, another dark coloured rose, which I assume it's the Dark Lady by David Austin, this being the last mistery in my garden :)

I enjoy June so much, now that I have a rose garden.

I only wish my garden were bigger so I could add more roses.

Bouquets of Late Autumn

As expected, the first frost hasn't arrived yet and I keep gathering a few roses now and then.

Probably, if I had more time to take care of my flowers, there would have been more, but winter arrives with such lack of energy for me plus the loads of germs that my girl brings from the creche and always shares with me :)

Still, I've managed to plant all the bulbs and clean a decent part of the garden.

Now I just need to cover all those rose cuttings I took and we're (almost) good for winter.

A June Bouquet

Not much has happened in the garden - not in terms of me working in it.
I was glad to see that 4 out of my 5 new David Austins are showing signs of life = growth! Unfortunately, perhaps my favourite of the lot shows none - it's Claire Austin, a rose I was looking forward to seeing bloom in my garden. Not all hope is gone though.

I am gonna show you an image that I see every day in front of the house, just across the street (too sorry cannot add fragrance to the pic)

The smell of those trees in bloom is so fresh and amazing.

Another image I want to share today is also from the front of the house - it's the part which I cleaned to help the rose bushes develop. I found them here, so I have no clue what they are, but I am quite excited as they seem to put a lot of growth, especially since they are on the south-western side of the house.
I must add some rose fertiliser to help them, since they are very old bushes.

Hope to be showing you their pretty blooms soon enough

First steps

Satuday, April 7th, we dug the flower/plant bed and on Sunday we have planted the first 6 roses.
There are 5 from David Austin that I received as bare roots and 1 from Meilland which I bought at Jardireve, a gardening event in Luxembourg.
The DA ones are: Lady Emma Hamilton, Claire Austin, Gentle Hermione, Brother Cadfael and Munstead Wood. This is pretty much the order in which I planted them starting from the house towards the end of the garden, on the sunnier side.
The Meilland rose is a pink one called Leonardo da Vinci.
I've also planted a black currant bush that is full of blooms.
